For many teachers, assisting brings up hesitation, uncertainty, or avoidance.
Touch matters, & without guidance, it can feel easier to step back than to step in.
Have you ever second-guessed yourself before offering an assist—unsure if it would truly support the student, or if it might disrupt their experience?
This training is here to change that.
At Shakti Yoga Athens, we use the word assists intentionally.
An assist isn’t about fixing or correcting a body.
It’s an offering—one that supports autonomy, choice, & the student’s own process.
When offered with care, a well-timed assist can create space for strength, ease, & self-trust.
It can help a student feel supported without being overridden.
Journey into Assisting gives you the skills & confidence to offer that kind of support.
Rooted in our body-neutral, trauma-informed approach, this training focuses on assisting as a form of service rather than correction. You’ll learn how to work with consent in a way that feels clear & natural, how to consider nervous systems when offering touch, & how to trust your own timing & discernment.
Instead of memorizing a list of adjustments,
you’ll develop a framework for deciding when to assist,
why you’re assisting, & how to do so in a way that feels aligned.
Through practice, feedback, & discussion,
assisting becomes less intimidating & more intuitive.
By the end of this training,
you’ll feel more grounded in your role as a teacher,
more confident offering hands-on assists,
& more at ease knowing that your touch is supportive, respectful, and intentional.
