The Shakti Shine - March 11, 2019

Shakti Love Notes 

We are always growing. I love that! And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.

So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.

The way seems blocked.

There's a door right in front of you, but there are what seem to be about a dozen locks of all types securing the door closed. Not to mention, the door is steel and exceptionally heavy. And even IF you unlock all the locks and even IF you manage to pull the door open, there's a mighty wind blowing through the door in your direction, pushing you back as you try to step forward.

This is what it feels like most days-- to step into Vitality.

... it's work.

It makes me think about the author Steven Pressfield and the way he talks about resistance and creativity. (here and here)

One of my favorite things he says is, "Put your ass where your heart wants to be."

It's like saying, 'You want to tap into your Vitality? You want to feel a spark? Do you want to move forward?... Then you better crack the code on those locks, open the door and step through.'

It's really that simple.

But it doesn't feel simple in the moment...

I had a Face-to-Face-with-the-Locked-Steel-Door moment last week. On Friday I spent much of the morning in thought. Thinking is good; it's good that we think. AND there is a threshold when I feel myself cross from 'thinking as fuel' into 'thinking on empty.'

The simple version: I could feel myself puttering near empty. I looked at the clock-- 11:48am. If I leave now, I can make it to the noon. I made it to my mat with just a couple minutes to spare, and 1-hour later I was re-charged & tapped in.

Is that really what I feel like doing? *resistance* Can I make it on time? I don't want to be in a rush... I should probably eat lunch first? *resistance* I'm supposed to move later today. Do I feel like doing both? I could stay here and keep writing. *resistance* I think I'll feel better. But what if it's not what I need? If I don't leave now I won't make it. Ok, I'll go. *on the drive there* This is going to help. Is it? I hope so. Is there something else I should be doing with my time. *resistance* Oh, there was that errand I need to run. Ok, I guess I will make it on time.... *STEP THROUGH.*

It's really simple, but it is rarely easy.

So I practiced.... and I felt 10,000,000,000,000x better. I felt tapped in. I felt revived. I felt perspective, aliveness, energy & connection.

I'm learning that resistance often shows me exactly what I need, and if I'll just step up to the door, I already know the codes to unlock the locks, I am strong enough to open the door, & stepping through is like a breath of fresh air.

Vitality is right here. I just have to choose to open the door & step through.
